Friday 4/25, after the trial

[Therion actually turns back a few times, fidgeting with his scarf in the meeting room, before he finally knocks.

Knock.]

[ sweet therion............ ]

Come on in, Therion!

[bolderfell]

[Sweet is... a word...

Anyway, he comes on in as invited.]

...Hey.

[didntgetdadslooks]

[ Listen. ]

Hey. How... how are you?

[bolderfell]

...Not like I was particularly close to either of them.

[Except in the physical sense, given the placement of their podiums to either side of his. It's also not exactly an answer, but he shakes his head.]

You? You were watching again, right.

[didntgetdadslooks]

Right.

[ That's a reasonable position, she supposes. ]

Yeah, I was. I didn't know either of them very well either, but... well, I'd rather have gone through my life without watching a vampire attack, that's for sure.

[bolderfell]

You're not allowed to look away? Even if... there's no question how it ends?

[It couldn't have been like last week, with Aela and Lif so evenly matched.]

I am, but... I at least do have to report time of death. The Professor doesn't exactly sleep a lot, but he can't be up all night every night like I can.

[bolderfell]

[Therion doesn't usually sit when he comes to visit, but he does today. He's. He's tired.]

...Is death something you're used to? Did you have to see it a lot, before all this.

I... don't know.

[ She sighs. ]

I don't remember... nearly anything about my life before The Professor found me.

[bolderfell]

[That gets his attention.]

Really? ...Found you where?

Some kind of... research facility in the Amazon Rainforest. The very first thing I can remember is waking up in one of his facilities. I was so malnourished and weak that I could barely walk, and apparently I was leaking some kind of melted rock...

[ She lets out a single, slightly harsh laugh. ]

Helping him down here was his offer for how I could repay him for saving my life.

[bolderfell]

[Leaking rock sounds, uh, alarming, but then again, he's seen Nira's strange, stony protrusions. Something to ask her about later. There's so much here to ask everyone about. With Angel, he barely knows where to start.]

...Was that about a year ago, then? You said you've been living around him for that long, in different facilities... Bet it could take that long to return to full health, even with the "technology" he can use.

[He's got both his arms drawn in under his cloak--wrapped around himself against his own memories.]

...Was he kind to you? Back then? Did he... make himself someone you trusted?

Yeah. About a year.

[ She ponders that, for a moment. ]

Sure he did. I mean... he really is a professor of psychology, he said he works at some school in Europe. And while I was in the care facilities for the... company he helps run on the side, he and some of the people he knows taught me about the outside world and all the places they come from. And eventually I healed up enough that, after all of this, he agreed I could go out and see the world, on him.

[bolderfell]

[Their stories are so different. And yet.]

Think he'll make good on it now?

... I don't know. I hope so, but... you probably don't just let go of girls you can turn into executioners, once you've gone to the trouble.

[ She frowns for a second, then starts jotting something down. ]

I don't think this whole thing turning out the way he wants it to ends well for anyone.

Not even for him?

I don't know. It's... I guess since it's not the actual purpose I can say it now, he told me the whole point was to see how long you guys could hold out. So now I don't really know what he gets from it.

[bolderfell]

How long we can hold out... Doesn't work for how long we can hold out before breaking the rules, either, since one of us already attacked you. Were those his exact words, Angel?

He said he wanted to test people in extreme conditions,and see which one of us you guys would listen to. Then the first motive happened, and well... it's pretty clear there's at least a thing or two about his plans that he didn't tell me.

[bolderfell]

...Hell of a stacked deck he's given you to play. And not in your favor.

[Can she hear the gears turning in his weary little head?]

The rules you have to follow. Are they the same as ours?

[ She shakes her head. ]

Some of them are similar, but... mostly they're different. I have different responsibilities from you guys, after all.

[bolderfell]

Are you allowed to investigate like we are?

[didntgetdadslooks]

There's nothing saying no, but... I don't really have time. I do like seeing what you guys have been putting together, though, even if there's only so much I'm allowed to say.

[He nods, then carefully asks:]

Did you recognize anything we were talking about at the last meeting? Pandora, or...?
