Week 1 Monday Afternoon

[Nira's definitely curious about the Assistant-she definitely seems like a frail girl, which the Professor probably selected for...so naturally she's gonna be concerned. She knocks on the door of the office gently.]

Angel? Are you in there right now?

Yup! Come on in!

[ladygeryon]

[Nira definitely takes time to look around the room as she enters, to see how personal a touch it has.]

I haven't really seen you around, so I thought you might like some company. You seem like quite the extrovert, after all.

[didntgetdadslooks]

[ Well, it's definitely an office! The desk itself is fairly bare - there's a couple books off to one side, but it looks like most of her work gets done on the tablet she's setting down as Nira comes in. The shelves behind it, though, are full of a bunch of things, mostly small art pieces and the like from... well, clearly a wide range of cultures and styles. There's a few bottles of regional liquor and a fossil mixed in, too. ]

I guess so. I don't know, it's a little tough to get out much right now - I've got a lot to keep me busy. But I don't mind company at all!

Is the Professor making you do most of the work? [Nira doesn't sound happy at that idea.] He mentioned having other staff around, but it does sound like you're the main intermediary between them and us.

[ Angel wiggles a hand in the air. ]

I mostly handle surveillance and maintenance on this end. Making sure the power doesn't go out, that kind of thing.

[ladygeryon]

I hope we aren't giving you too much trouble, with all the extra rooms to maintain. Did the Professor tell you he'd be bringing us here?

Yeah, he did. I got moved over here just to help with this whole thing. I can handle you guys alright, though.

[ladygeryon]

Alright, good to know he didn't just spring it on you out of nowhere. [She would totally believe the Professor could be inconsiderate like that.] Ah...I suppose I have a slight request. Would it be possible to provide some way to block the windows in my room? I'd rather not have to be constantly reminded of how deep underwater we are. [She's totally nervous about it but trying to pass it off as general nerves about how deep they are.]

Hm... I can see about getting you some blinders or something?

[ She ponders for a second, flipping through something on her tablet. ]

The installation of something like that would be a little tough, but... I can see what I can do? The only way to naturally darken the windows iiiiis the redirection field, and you don't want it that charged.

If you can't get anything, that's alright. I'm just glad that you're trying to help.

Physical resources at least I can do. Well, most of them. I can't exactly hand you a copy of the keys or anything.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect you to. I'm not going to ask you for anything that'd get you in trouble with your boss.

Ha, nah, I'd just have to say no. The rules for what I actually get in trouble for are pretty generous.

Oh, that's good to know. [Nira definitely sounds relieved.] Is there anything I'd have to watch out for that might get you in trouble?

[didntgetdadslooks]

Not really, just... know that there's some stuff I'm not allowed to do. I can't interfere with you guys if anyone actually... goes through with Rule Seven, for example.

[ladygeryon]

...it sounds like you don't want that to happen. [Despite the intensity in her expression, Nira's voice softens somewhat.] That...must be hard.

I want to help you guys how I can. My hands are tied in some ways, sure, but... that's really and truly what I want.

[ladygeryon]

[Nira nods.] Yeah...I believe you. No one else has been giving you trouble about that, have they?

[didntgetdadslooks]

Actually, confidentiality about what you guys say to me in here is part of my role here. So, uh... I can't answer that.

[ladygeryon]

[Definitely worrying. But it sounds like there's nothing she can do about that. There's a pause before Nira speaks again.] ...would you like a hug?

[didntgetdadslooks]

[ Angel blinks. ]

Uh... I know this might sound weird coming from someone who sealed herself in here with all of you, but I'm good? Unless you want a hug, in which case I can do that.

[ladygeryon]

[Nira does contemplate asking for a hug so she can give Angel one, but decides to table that for now.]

It's alright, I just thought I'd offer. Thanks for the talk, and taking my request.

[ Angel nods. ]
